Can You Transfer Tap-to-Pay (RFID) to a Custom Metal Credit Card?

Can You Transfer Tap-to-Pay (RFID) to a Custom Metal Credit Card?

Short answer: No — and here’s why.

Traditional plastic and hybrid cards (such as the American Express Platinum) contain a thin copper antenna embedded within the card body. This internal antenna enables RFID or Tap-to-Pay functionality.

When a card is transformed into a custom metal version, the original chip is safely re-embedded into your new stainless-steel card. However, during that process, the copper antenna is severed and cannot be replaced. Because our cards are made from 100% stainless steel, there is no way to replicate or reattach that antenna system.

Tap-to-Pay: Convenience, Not Prestige

Tap-to-Pay is designed purely for convenience — think quick checkouts at gas stations or grocery stores. It’s not a feature tied to luxury, status, or presence. In fact, even the official Apple Card in metal does not include Tap functionality.

Our custom metal cards serve an entirely different purpose: presence, respect, and impression. When you hand over your personalized card, it immediately sets the tone — commanding attention and elevating your image in a way that plastic cards never could.

Still Want Contactless Payments?

You won’t lose access to Tap & Pay completely. Both iOS and Android devices allow you to add your plastic card to your digital wallet. That means you can still enjoy contactless payments directly from your phone while carrying a metal card that truly represents you.
